Good Intentions…
Hey y’all,
While I have felt absolutely zero motivation to blog lately, I couldn’t let this dumpster fire of a year go out without a recap. Clearly 2020 is some sort of mysterious phenomena that transcends time in the normal sense of the word, because we have been here for at minimum, 5 years!
This has been a test for everyone. Seriously, congratulations if you’ve survived and are ready to level up to 2021. Like many, I started off NYE 2019 saying “2020 is going to be my year!” Oh how naive she was… In truth, it did start off great! I got to witness one of my besties become a mother and get married in an intimate ceremony. Followed that up with a March trip to Madeira and Lisbon! I mean come on, yes girl, my 2020 was on fire! But then the night before we were set to fly back home, the world was in a panic over Coronavirus or Covid-19 and we were literally watching the world freak out as we had to get on a long international flight back home THE DAY BEFORE borders were set to close. Talk about timing!
Ok, let’s skip over April/May then get to June. By this time, I had quit my job and was in hardcore shut in mode. June rolled around and said bestie who got married in January and I decided to launch a business. I know… wild right? In the midst of a pandemic who does that?! We were definitely ready to do something for ourselves that we could grow and nurture while staying home and handling motherhood amidst a pandemic. So Oliver and Grace was born. I’ll get into the deets on O&G in another post, but let’s just say its been a great journey and a highlight of an otherwise not so great year.
So many of us experienced loss, and trauma, and grief, and exhaustion, and the list goes on and on. Initially I felt the pressure to be a Quarantine Queen and do all the things with a smile. That is just not real life. Some days my house was spotless and meals were prepped and workouts completed, others it was applause worthy if I put on pants or got off the sofa. Quarantine burnout quickly became a thing. So yeah, if you made it through this year, that is enough. Cheers to you my friend!
I could go on about the crap that was the majority of 2020, but I feel like there’s enough negativity floating around so I’ll list some positives!
Got to see another part of the world before the lockdown
surpassed my Good Reads goal (by ALOT)
Launched a business of cozy lifestyle (stay home friendly) clothing
Fell in love with running ( I know, crazy right?!)
Figured out what foods work for me and what foods DO NOT (Thank you Fresh n’ Lean for making my life easier)
Spent all the quality time with my family and getting to watch my son develop his spitfire personality
Entering 2021, I will proceed with caution, but it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t set some goals and intentions for the year.
