Going green in quarantine!
I have always been a recycler. Whoever did the reduce, reuse, recycle campaign in the 90’s is a total marketing genius because it worked! I cannot see soda rings and not find the closest pair of scissors to cut them into shreds. It’s compulsive. I must save the turtles and fish. I have quite the collection of reusable water bottles and little by little I’m working on creating a more sustainable life for my family. We have officially switched to glass containers for food storage among other cool product swaps. I’ll share with y’all a few of my favorites!
Earth Breeze! We do a lot of laundry and I have always felt guilty about the amount of products and plastic bottles and waste. I know it is virtually impossible to completely live waste free, but every little bit helps. I gave Earth Breeze laundry sheets a try and was so pleasantly surprised! I prefer that fresh linen smell so I opted for the fresh scent. They also have scent free if thats more your vibe.
Blueland! I opted for the starter kit and an extra hand soap dispenser to cover the whole house! Watching the tablets dissolve is super cool if you’re a nerd like me. But in all seriousness, they smell great and work wonderfully for household cleaners and the foaming hand soap is legit. The best part is, you just get the tablets when you are running low and you re use the same bottles.
Silicon Sponges! I saw these a few different places and thought the concept was super cool. I hate sponges, they get so disgusting after only a few uses and hold onto odors like no other. This swap was a no brainer for me.
Glass water bottle! I have had this bottle for years. I try to drink a ton of water so you can always catch me with my bottle or my large Yeti cup full! A super affordable hack is to repurpose a mason jar and get a “bottle top” lid for it.
Metal Straw! So many cool options are now available for reusable straws. These are the ones we use and they come with a little cleaning brush!
Glass food storage! One thing I have been doing a lot more often since the start of this pandemic is cooking. Glass storage is great for re heating and keeping food fresh.
Reusable zip pouches! There are so many different kinds to choose from. I started off with these generic bags which are great for packing snacks and organizing items in my purse! I do plan to get some fancy stasher bags for food/freezer purposes. I like to portion out food before I freeze it, and they are a great space saving option that I know can handle the extreme temperatures!
