Galentines over Valentines

I will be honest here: I have never really been one to make a big deal about Valentine’s Day. I think it was more of a thing when I was a kid; my dad would always get flowers and chocolates for my mom and me, but as I got older, it just felt like another day to sell unnecessary junk. I’m not sure if we have had this conversation, but I was never really into candy as a kid, so naturally, I wasn’t a fan of the chalky candy hearts or the mystery-filled chocolates. However, I love the idea of Galentine’s Day! Any excuse to get the girls together is a win, in my book. I’m going to list my top spots to gather with your girls, as well as a few DIY Galentine’s night-in ideas.

Top picks for cocktails and bites:

What’s your vibe?

I Love having an excuse to get dolled up. A girl’s night out is always a good idea!

  1. Double Dealer - Hands down Double Dealer is one of my favorite spots in the city! The atmosphere is effortlessly chic, and the cocktails are always delicious. You definitely want to eat before making your way here because they are cocktails only, but it is across the street from the Roosevelt, so what better time to eat at Domenica, then make your way to the underground speak-easy style lounge.

  2. Jolie- New Orleans - I love the atmosphere here! You definitely want to make a reservation. Jolie tends to get crowded as the night goes on. Having a designated table to enjoy their delicious cocktails and cuisine is nice. They also have a spicy mocktail that is DIVINE!

  3. The Peacock Room- A gorgeous jewel-toned cocktail lounge in the heart of downtown. The menu has a little something for everyone, and I have yet to be let down.

  4. The Will & The Way - Located in the French Quarter, The Will & The Way is the best of both worlds. They have great bar bites and cocktails. They also have a spacious courtyard and a charming vibe.

  5. Chandelier Bar - The chandelier bar in the Four Seasons is swanky and chic! Their mixologists are very knowledgeable and good with on-the-spot creations. A major perk of this bar is the proximity to amazing fine dining. You can order food from the hotel restaurant to be served barside.

If you are more of a girls’ night-in type, here are some ideas for a fun, low-key Galentine’s celebration:

Rich Luxury Picnics

A curated picnic should definitely be on your bucket list!

  1. Bring a board!

Charcuterie boards are all the rage, but why stop there? Each friend would bring a different themed board. I’ll suggest a few to get your juices flowing. Breakfast board, cheese board, dessert board, french fry board with different types of fries and dipping sauces, butter board, the limit literally does not exist! If you think of any fun board ideas, comment below or message me. I LOVE a board!

  2. Movie night

Wear your pajamas, pop some popcorn, and watch your favorite movies. It’s less about the movie you watch and more about making the time to hang out with your girlfriends in an uninterrupted space.

  3. DIY

This is one where you can get really creative. Have a paint party and get some cheap supplies from Five Below or your local craft store. OR, if you have projects around your home, here is your opportunity to bring reinforcements. Order some pizza and have your girls help you paint that spare room :)

  4. Have a chic PicNic

You can organize a fun picnic-style girls’ dinner party. This would be fun to do at home or a park. There are amazing small businesses that can help you arrange everything, and you and your gals can split the cost. One of my favorite picnic planners locally is Rich Luxury Picnics. She creates the cutest aesthetic vibes and you are guaranteed to have a great time!

  5. Game Night

Have each person bring a board or card game and a snack. I guarantee lots of laughs and core memories will be made!

I hope these help you get inspired. Grab your girlfriends and wear your florals!

XO,

Fallon
